"The first "gangster rap" album was produced in the early 1800s in Compton. The notorious "Wutang Guild" were heavily influenced by the political thought surrounding the French Revolution and were outspoken critics of Napoleon W. Bonaparte. They wrote many controversial songs about subjects and were the first to glorify the casual use and ownership of dangerous weapons, such as muskets. In 1822, they were the first to "ghost ride da whip" with horses. In 1830, they were condemned by the Roman Catholic Church and banished to Siberia, along with various revolutionairies and Michael Bolton." (jabxvi)
